Suffering with IBS from last 4 Years
by Amit
(Mumbai, Maharashtra, India)
Hi, I am suffering with IBS since last 4 years. First 3 years I have been diagnosed with allopathic medicines. Not treated completely its only controlled, sometimes IBS turn into very reactive mode even after continuing the medication, so I switched to Homeopathy. By Homeopathy treatment bowl movements are controlled but fatigue, tiredness , weakness, depression is increased. I don’t know what I should do...
Tiredness and IBS
Tiredness and fatigue are very common in IBS. No one really knows why this is, but could be partly due to the brain-gut axis theory where there is nerve disorganisation between the brain and gut. Also, depression and anxieties are more common in IBS and it may be that this has some bearing too. Liver cirrhosis patients suffer fatigue and can develop something called encephalopathy. This is thought in part due to the liver not clearing the toxins from the gut and may be in IBS, particularly constipation-predominant IBS, fatigue might in part have something to do with gut toxins in a similar fashion, although it is only a theory. Liver cirrhosis patients with encephalopathy can benefit from laxatives, in particular Lactulose, which is thought to help expel toxins. In a similar fashion, some IBS patients derive benefit with a Bowel Cleanse. There are other strategies to help tiredness and you can read more about these in the Tiredness section. Hope this helps.
