Are These Stroke Warning Signs?

About an hour ago, my mother just complained and asked if the left side of her face went numb. She has left sided numbness and speech is a little slurred, but her face isn't drooping. She is having no problems with mobility right now and is thinking coherently. She can say her daughter's names, dates of birth, where she is, etc...She says it's only a pinched nerve. Is this true? Are these not warning signs of a stroke? I am really worried at the moment!

You are right to be concerned about your mother. These could be stroke warning signs and she should have this checked. It could be a TIA or transient ischaemic attack. This is a mini stroke that resolves within 24 hours, but could also herald the onset of a possible full blown stroke. She should seek urgent medical advice with this. There are other causes of these symptoms too such as brain inflammation or a problem within the brain substance itself. Don’t delay, tell you mother to get help today and good luck!
