Sinus infection that won't go away.

Sinusitis Advice

Hi, I have an appointment on the 19th to see a clinical doctor. However, I'm not sure I should wait.

I've had a sinus infection for a month and a half now. I went to the ER and they told me I have yet another URI. This makes the third one in four months. They gave me five pills of steroids.

I am so dizzy sometimes its hard to stand. My left ear is totally blocked and now the right ear is blocked as well. My right eye is red and has become worse over the month. I've been vomiting more and more. The back of my head hurts, my teeth hurt, and the sides of my face hurt. I have a cough that appears to go away and then comes back.

So far I've tried for the last two weeks... Warm salt water rinse five times a day. Nasal spray twice a day, Musinex, decongestant, cough syrup (Before the ER trip, not any longer). Excedrin for pain. Warm compress on my throat and ears. None of it seems to be helping, in fact I'm getting worse. I woke up today and wanted to scream because the pain in my ears and face was almost unbearable. Should I go back to the ER or wait it out?

Kim, you have clearly been suffering from very severe sinusitis. You have really had all the sinusitis advice I could offer and I think you should go back to the ER concerning your symptoms. The 19th is a long time to wait when you are suffering so badly and I think you are probably going to need surgery for your particular problem. Certainly you should go back and be reassessed.
