Shooting pain down below
by V smith
(Doncaster)
I'm a 19 year old female. Lately I have had shooting pains down below, on the left hand side just above my vagina. Some says it gets worse, and sometimes makes me jump up with the pain. I had a c-section march 2010, but that healed nicely. I'm on no medication. My periods are not regular though. Some times I can be on for 2 weeks then another time for just 2 days. Could you please help me? I don’t want to go to my GP if it's nothing serious.
Shooting Pains In PelvisThe shooting pains that you are experiencing may be due to adhesions from your previous caesarean section. However there are lots of other reasons that you may be experiencing these pains and it is definitely worth going to your general practitioner to have this checked. The fact that you don’t have regular periods maybe significant to this too. You might have a condition such as endometriosis causing your symptoms which is not uncommon. You may need further investigations to look at this such as a pelvic exam, blood tests and an ultrasound scan. You might even need to have a laparoscopy to look for evidence of endometriosis in due course.
