Sex Allergy, About Allergy To Sex

by Armando Rodrigues
(Mexico, Jalisco, Vallarta)

I Just had sex and I started to get all my skin red, hives and a tachycardia; why? I’m 17 years old and I’m a male. After having sex I started to get my skin red and with hives and also a tachycardia started; later I needed to rest on a bed for like an hour; during which I felt dizzy and the skin itchy. This hasn’t occurred before. I take a pill for allergies, I don’t smoke and I drink sometimes.

Answer:

Sorry to hear of your sex allergy symptoms of hives, tachycardia and red skin. These symptoms are of an allergic reaction and it can occur during sex, although thankfully is quite rare. A similar phenomena can occur in women allergic to a mans semen too. It can be due to a couple of different reasons. Firstly, if wearing a condom it can be due to latex allergy which is quite common. This can be prevented by avoiding Latex condoms and there are hypoallergenic condoms available and those that are not made of latex.

Secondly, you can be allergic to the mucus produced by your girlfriend during sex. Although this form of sex allergy is rare, it does occur and can occur even if you have had sex with the same partner before. It can be avoided sometimes by wearing a condom or for your partner to wear a Femidom. Alternatively, you can be desensitised by exposure in a controlled way to very small amounts of your girlfriends mucus over a period of time. This can be given by subcutaneous or intradermal injection. Other treatments would include antihistamines and an epipen or adrenaline to use should you develop a severe allergic reaction to sex.

It is important to realise that sex allergy has nothing to do with you doing anything wrong. Nor is it something that is likely to be inherited. Sex allergy can be associated with other forms of allergy such as hayfever, conjunctivitis and eczema. I would suggest you seek specialist advice about your sex allergy.
