samters triad and feingold diet
by sylvia
( ireland)
My problem is i've a condition called samters triad in which i've to go on a diet called the feingold diet. I've been to a dietician and no one in ireland has heard of it. I am supposed to have surgery done but the consultant felt it was too risky which is understandable. I've asked in bookstores for books on the condition and the diet but no one seems to be able to help me.
MY PAST MEDICAL HISTORY AS FOLLOWS:
Severe IBS, Asthma, Mild Colitis, Oesteopenia, History of migraines, Overactive Thyroid and dermatitis
I'm on Seretide Evohaler 250mg, Salamol Easi Breathe, Flixonase Nasal Spray, Nasosal Nasal Spray, Anthistamine, Amitriptyline for IBS purposes as all other medications can't help me with the IBS, Neomarcazole and taking a calcium tablet as well as cod liver oil.
I don't smoke and never have done. I only drink two small bottles of vodka two or three times a year if i don't have any infections and am well enough to do so. if ibs etc is at me, i stay clear of alcohol and the same when i'm on medication for infections etc.
I have a family history of under active and Overactive Thyroid on mums side of family and dermatitis on dads side and psoriasis on mums side of family. Mums dad had a lung condition (was a non smoker), Dads mum had multiple sclerosis, Mum has oesteopenia.
I have tried:
Steaming - doesn't do a thing for me when i've had polyps, tried a few different types of antihistamine and nasal sprays (finally found the right ones), tried neil med sinu rinse but it was the same as steaming. Trying to get the feingold diet together as that's the key to the problem.
About Samter’s Triad and Feingold DietThanks for your submission about Samters Triad and the Feingold diet. Samters triad is a condition characterised by aspirin induced bronchial asthma (with severe acute asthma attacks), aspirin sensitivity and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. It tends to occur in middle age and normally treated by avoidance of aspirin as well as avoidance of preservatives such as sodium benzoate and artificial colourings such as tartrazine. As for the Feingold diet, I am not the right person to be asking about this although you may be able to gain more information on this matter through the Feingold Website. Hope this helps!
