Saline ultrasound... Possibly pregnant..
by Stephanie
(Ohio)
I have recently gone through a procedure to remove the tissue that formed a bicornuate uterus for me. That was about 4 weeks ago. I stopped taking the birth control since the procedure and am unsure if I was pregnant but I believe I've had a strong chance. I went yesterday and got a saline ultrasound and since I left I have felt nothing but pain from right under my chest all the way down to my pelvic region and its to the point I can't stand or sit very long because I lock up and its too painful to move. I'm not sure how likely it was that I was pregnant but the gyno did not test me prior to the procedure. I just don't know why I am in so much pain this time but last time I had next to no pain. Is it possibly because I was pregnant? I'm not sure what to think. Please help.
Pain Following Saline UltrasoundIt is clearly not normal to have so much pain following a saline ultrasound. You can sometimes get a little discomfort in the area, but this degree of pain is unusual. You need to go back to the hospital to get this checked. It is theoretically possible to perforated (make a hole in the uterus) the uterus through inflating a saline bag in the uterine cavity and this might be why you are experiencing so much pain. As for the pregnancy issue, you had a negative pregnancy test so this would seem unlikely and ultrasound would have likely picked up a foetus too. So, again my advice to you would be to go back to the hospital to get this checked out as soon as possible. Good luck!
