I have redness in the outer white part (part towards my ear) of my right eye. There is probably a slight swelling of the red part but no irritation or discharge. I wear contact lenses. But before I got this problem I hadnt been wearing my lenses for a week. This redness has been there for a few days now. What is it and what should I do to get rid of it?

Also I frequently get small swellings or protrusions in the inner lids of both my eyes. They appear suddenly and then disappear within a day. What are these and how to get rid of it?

There are 2 main causes of painless red eye. The first is glaucoma, where the pressure in the eye increases and can cause problem with vision if left alone. The second condition is an allergic conjunctivitis, an allergy issue and you can often notice bumps or swellings in the inner eyelids with this so I suspect it is the later. The treatment for these two conditions is completely different and you need to see an optician or ophthalmologist to determine this. They can check the pressure in the eye.

Other causes of red eye include infections and inflammatory uveitis or episcleritis, but these tend to cause pain.
