Rash on upper back/below shoulder
(Birmingham, AL)
I am a 32 year old female. My med history has been pretty good with the exception of one slight imperfection. I was diagnosed with HSV2 two years ago. The only meds that I currently use is a Mirena as a bc contraceptive. My family history includes obesity and high BP which I currently have neither. I noticed this rash in about April. It started as a small round brownish dry looking almost resembled a ringworm. It has not been itchy or sore but it has gotten bigger.
I have attached a few pics...help please!!!
Medical advice on rash I agree with you that this has some features of ringworm, but I assume you have treated yourself in view of the comment. Eczema seems unlikely as the rash is not itchy. I think you should have this biopsied to confirm the cause. There is a condition called amelanotic melanoma, a form of skin cancer that can give this irregular slightly nodular appearance and it certainly is in a sun exposed area. It may turn out to be nothing alarming, but I would suggest your doctor takes a closer look at this for you.
