Ranitidine And Ranitidine Side Effects






Drug name

Ranitidine

Indigestion, GORD (gastroesophageal reflux), duodenal and gastric ulcer healing, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, NSAID-associated ulceration

Other drug names

Zantac

Contraindications

Avoid in pophyria and known anaphylaxis (allergy)to the drug. Use with caution in renal impairment (kidney impairment), prganancy and breast feeding.

Side effects

Diarrhea/Diarrhoea, abnormal liver function tests, headache, dizziness, rash, tiredness, acute pancreatitis (rare), bradycardia (rare), AV block (rare), confusion, depression, hallucinations, blood disorders, tachycardia, agitation, visual disturbances, erythema multiforme, alopecia.

Adult dose

By mouth 150mg twice a day or 300mg at night.

Can be given IV 50mg slow injection, can be repeated every 6 to 8 hours.

Tablets, Intravenous preparations, syrup, effervescent tablets
