Pain Below The Knee

Hi, I'm a 31 yr old female. I have started up doing some running again and I'm have some pain on the top of my tibia just under my patella. Growing up I had Osgood-Schlatters disease, would this have anything to do with my pain I am having? What should I do because I want to get back into running!

Answer: Pain Below The Knee

Pain in the area of the tibial tuberosity could be due to chronic Osgood-Schlatters. Its not 100% clear to me from your description whether the pain you are describing is in exactly the same area. You mention pain on the top of the tibia which would mean inside the knee joint itself. There are many causes for this. I would suggest seeking the advice of a sports physiotherapist or an orthopaedic surgeon who can examine the joint and advise on the best treatment options for your knee pain.
