Nothing has worked for my IBS
by Tracey

I was diagnosed with IBS five years ago, but have had symptoms since late teens. I am a 47 year old female. Ive seen 2 GI doctors, treated with Nexium and Dexolant with no or very temporary improvement. Ive had some luck with antidepressants, currently taking 20 mg Prozac. Scopes show irritable stomach lining nothing significant. Ive been tested for allergies, celiac- nothing positive. Symptoms mostly alternate between diarrhea and constipation. This time I have diarrhea. Have all other symptoms especially fatigue, headaches. Stomach hurts all the time. Vegetarian diet. Have eliminated soy and peanuts clearly make it worse. Im seeing a nutritionist to assist with diet. I feel sick and tired every day. Looking for steps to explore with nutritionist. General medicine has not worked.
IBS symptoms and nothing works
Sorry to hear of your terrible IBS-A symptoms. You clearly have been struggling and hopefully your intuitionalist will help you further. I note that the Prozac (Fluoxetine) has provided some benefit and maybe overtime this will continue to help. You might benefit from hypnotherapy and you can read more about this by
going to IBS hypnosis therapy. Another thought is the use of a combination of one of the
best colon cleanse available and a probiotic such as VSL#3. The colonic cleanse clears the bowel and the VSL#3 will help to give you some bacterial replacement. The other thought is to ask your doctor to check and make sure you haven’t got small bowel bacterial overgrowth which can give rise to similar symptoms.
