Not a kidney stone or gallbladder problem what could it be?

(Raleigh)

I am female and 28 years old. I do not have kidney stones yet I have severe pain my left side and so far a CT scan and ultrasound haven't shown much that would be causing my problems. I have nausea quite often and often times will throw up or have loose bowel movements. I also have to pee every 20 minutes to 30 minutes max. I don't sleep much at night because I'm up so many times to pee. I can't take this much longer. Any other ideas as to what may be causing this?

Irritable bladder syndrome

Thanks for the submission. You have interesting symptoms that may well be related to your urinary system. Sometimes, you can have a problem with intermittent hydronephrosis or hydroureter that can give rise to intermittent pain like this. I saw a case once of a young man who had this and when he was scanned it appeared normal. However, when he was rescanned after taking a lot of fluids in the ureters diameter had increased consistent with hydroureter and this was caused by a small stricture that didnt show up on his original scan.

The other thought is an irritable bladder which can cause you to pee a lot. It is a sudden and irresistible urge to urinate even when the bladder is not necessarily full. It can cause a lot of discomfort and is more common in ladies. It is treated by bladder training and antispasmoic drugs and incontinence pads.

You might well need to see a urologist about your problems.
