Neuroblastoma Stage 4 Disease

My 2 yrs old son has been diagnosed with new kind of neuroblastoma cancer. It was diagnosed as 'new' because they cannot find the 'root' of the cancer. Several kinds of tests had been done, and showed nothing, but he has this abnormal cell in his blood and staged as stage 4 cancer since the abnormal cells are found in his bone. He has the symptoms of neuroblastoma cancer, which is small head bruises, and he cant walk. Now he is undergoing neuroblastoma cancer treatment-chemotherapy. After 2nd session, he's able to walk again and by 4th session, he can run again... It seems like a good progress or not? Is there any chance/cases where the cells just gone after several chemo session, and then relapse?

Shahiza, It sounds like your son is doing very well and responding to the chemotherapy that has been administered to him. I am so pleased to hear this and hope that he continues to do well with his chemotherapy. However, stage 4 disease is advanced and it is too early to predict how he will respond in the future and no way can I predict the outcome from this, but clearly you must be encouraged by his response to this to date as any parent would be.

His paediatric oncologist will be in a much better position to answer your questions about this as they have all his details to hand. I appreciate you want to know the long-term prognosis for him, this is fully understandable and I would want to know this if it was one of my children. Speak to his oncologist about this and I am sure they will help you with this. May I wish you, your son and your family all the very best in the long-term fight with his illness.
