Misoprostol

Indications

Prevention of NSAID induced ulceration

Other drug names

Cytotec

Contraindications

Pregnancy or planning pregnancy, know drug sensitivity or anaphylaxis to the drug

Caution in hypotension

Side effects

diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea and vomiting, abnormal vaginal bleeding, rashes, dizziness

Adult dose

800 microgram in two to four divided doses for treatment of ulceration and 200 microgram two to four times a day as prophylaxis

Combined formulations with diclofenac and naproxen also available
