I am a 56 year old man, experiencing severe pain in my right arm, it started march 2007. The pain is very severe at the shoulder joint and the upper part of the arm, I have seen several doctors and had an MRI CERVICAL SPINE TEST. The result is as follows:
DIAGOSIS:
Technique:
T1-T2 STIR sag, axial and coronal and MR myelogram were done.
FINDINGS:
Alignment of vetebrae is normal.
Central disc herniation noted at C3-C4 level causing cord indentation
Vertebral bodies and appendages show normal signal intensities.
Ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament noted at C6 vertebral level.
Cervical cord signal is normal.
Pre and para spinal soft tissues are normal.
IMPRESSION:
CENTRAL DISC HERNIATION AT C3-C4 LEVEL WITH CORD INDENTATION.
OSSIFICATION OF POSTERIOR LONGITUDINAL LIGAMENT AT C6 VEERTEBRAL LEVEL.
MILD CANAL NARROWING AT C3-C4 DISC AND C6 VERTEBRAL LEVELS.
CORRELATE CLINICALLY AND FOLLOW UP.
I have taken several pain killers which only suppress the pain for a while.
Spinal canal narrowing
Thank you for contacting about your MRI result and the finding of mild spinal canal narrowing. Unfortunately you haven't actually asked a question, but I assume you are asking what can be done here? I am not an expert in these matters, but have posted your comment on the website in the hope that someone with more experience in these matters will be able to help you. I'm not sure whether spinal surgery should be undertaken in this situation or not. Apart from analgesia, I wonder whether a TENS machine maybe helpful here and physiotherapy with ultrasound.
