lower abdominal discomfort

by ayesha
(karachi)

I had ectopic pregnancy and then had emergency laparotomy of the right ovary last year august 2010. Fortunately, both my tubes are fine and were saved. Well, a week ago I had a little pain in the right lower abdomen under my incision. It persisted for two to three days then after that I had so much pain in all of my lower abdomen especially on movements (getting up, bending etc) it feels better sitting calmly or lying or walking. Then I feel it in my pelvic sides too. On the sixth day I had my period. It became more painful and I had Panadol on that day. Then gradually I felt pain was decreasing and the next day it was almost ended. Its my fifth day of period now but Im feeling some different feelings in my body. Im feeling very low and weakness in my shoulders, mainly pressure on urination and twice my BP has been found to be low. What should I do? What can it be?

Lower Abdominal Pain

There are many reasons why you could be experiencing pain in the lower abdomen. After surgery you can develop scarring or adhesions and these can cause pain. Adhesions can occur between organs in your abdomen or between your abdominal organs and your abdominal wall. The pain experienced can be made worse on movement and bending.

It could be scar pain causing your symptoms. Stretching the scar area could give rise to pain through getting up and bending.

I note your previous ectopic pregnancy. I presume that you are not pregnant again? Pregnancy could give rise to pain as the tissues are stretched and also you could be at increased risk of further ectopic pregnancy.

Your pressure on urination may indicate a urine infection and could also account for the lower abdominal pain that you have experienced. It could also account for the low blood pressure recordings you have had.

You really need to be examined by a doctor and I would suggest that you seek urgent medical advice and examination where you live.
