Loss of periods
by Danielle
(Texas)
Loss of PeriodsI have not had a period for 63 days (I have missed two), they are normally 28 day cycles. I have taken home pregnancy tests but non have been positive. The last time I was pregnant I did not get a positive test till 59 days and I ended up miscarrying. I am not sure what to do. Answer: Loss of PeriodsLoss or periods or amenorrhea is usually due to pregnancy. However yours has been going on for a long time so other conditions causing amenorrhea need to be considered. The menopause is another cause of loss of periods and early menopause can occur. Other causes of amenorrhea include stress, excessive exercise, hormonal conditions and certain medications (mainly hormone related). I note you had a long period before your pregnancy test was positive in a past pregnancy. If you want to confirm if you are pregnant or not, you could ask your doctor to check your beta-HCG blood levels which are raised in pregnancy.
