Livido Reticularis
Livido Reticularis
This happens when I'm in any weather colder than -5C or 23F. Always on my upper thigh. Last year it was mostly on the front, this year on the back. I'm Asian and have mild eczema, and I'm guessing this is dryness related. The scars last for months and it's forcing me to keep my pants mostly on when getting intimate, ha ha.
Can anyone tell me what it is specifically, and what I should do to prevent it?
Livido Reticularis I can't be certain, but this may well be Livido Reticularis. It is a condition where a rash appears that is reticular or thrond-like. There are many causes, but as it occurs when cold there are a few conditions that come to mind including Cryoglobulinaemia and Cold Haemagglutinin disease. They are conditions that have abnormal antibodies and cause precipitation in the skin when cold. These can occur in conditions such as Lupus (SLE), infections such as mycoplasma and sometimes serious cancer states. You really need to get this checked as you may need further investigations and treatment. My name is Dr Peter Thatcher MBBS, MRCPI and I am a consultant physician and gastroenterologist in the UK.
