itchy, peeling genital (no yeast infection)

by lauren
(olney, maryland, USA)

I am a 16 year old girl, 150lbs allergic to nothing but pollen and have had good health and no surgeries. about two or three weeks ago I used Veet hair removal to remove my pubic hair, the week after I experienced excessive itching in my vagina and clitoris and I decided to drink a lot of water and not have sex because I was dry. I got rid of the dryness but not the itching. Ive been trying to use baby oil to soothe the itching but it doesn’t t really help and the itching is on and off. There is no smell or odd discharge by the way. I also experienced burning when I peed and showered for two days but I believe it was because my skin was raw in the vaginal area. I have small bumps at the bottom of my vagina where it begins to connect to the anus but I feel as if they have always been there. I also noticed some soft skin peeling on my clitoris. I have no idea what this is or how it can be treated or soothed. Please help. I have had this for 3 months now. If I stop taking the medicine, my vaginal opening gets sore and begins to itch and peel and it no longer gets dry or at least I have not stopped taking medicine long enough to know. I am taking an store brand version of Zyrtec.

Irritated Genital Area From Hair Remover

This sounds like you have had a skin reaction to using the hair remover although it has been going on for a long time now. I think you should get someone to have a look at this for you in case there is another reason for this. It might be you have a secondary infection, particularly as you have been applying baby oil etc to the area.

You may find applying plain natural yoghurt to the area may help. You are already taking an antihistamine for the itching so there is little else you can do yourself. I would advise trying not to scratch the area as this can make the itch worse and by avoiding this, it might also settle.
