Injured Thumb
by Mitchell
(Wallacia, NSW, Australia)
Thumb InjuryI hurt my thumb playing Rugby League yesterday, and I thought the pain would go away overnight, but it didn't. Today it has ached and throbbed and is majorly swollen, i can rotate it 360 degrees, but can't bend it without excruciating pain. What is the problem and will I be able to play Rugby League this weekend? Answer: Your Thumb InjuryMitchell, without examining your thumb I can’t tell you what is wrong with it. I guess you have either strained it or broken it. The only things you can do are wrap it in ice to reduce the swelling and take anti-inflammatory painkillers. Keeping your thumb raised in a high arm sling will help to reduce swelling too. You probably should have this x-rayed to make sure you haven’t fractured it too.
