I am 18 and would love to finish highschool. Please Help
My IBS recently got a lot worse; I think it was due to stress increase. My bowels started to release on their own, what makes that worse, is it was during school, walking down the halls, sitting in class, or during lunch. It was so embarrassing I missed three weeks of school, which caused me to get kicked out, I’m trying to get back in school now and I believe that I deserve to finish my year. I am making an informative essay on IBS to hopefully explain to my V.P the seriousness of IBS disorder, maybe after she reads my essay she will enrol me and show a little leniency towards me. Does anyone have a story that I could put in my essay, maybe it will show her that I’m not the only person who feels uncomfortable in social settings sometimes because of IBS symptoms.
IBS and school
Thanks for getting in touch about your bad IBS and its relationship to school. Stress often makes bowel symptoms worse and can make your life a real misery. It sounds like you have school or exam phobia and you need to tackle your phobia which will in turn help to improve your IBS symptoms. A phobia councillor can give you CBT or cognitive behavioural therapy which could be very effective for you. Hypnotherapy may be another option that might help this. I note your going to write an informative essay on IBS and have probably already done so (sorry for the delay in writing to you). You might like to submit the essay to IBS Help Online and if it fits with our quality specifications, it could be published on the website and would be a good reference for you too! Hope this helps and good luck to you.
