Green vaginal discharge
(shropshire)
Hello I have a green gooey stuff coming from my vagina I have no idea what it is so I was just wondering if you could help?
Vaginal discharge
Vaginal discharge has many different causes including physiological reasons, sexual stimulation, pregnancy, cervicitis (inflamed cervix) and infections. The most likely cause is bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is an infection caused by an infection called gardnerella. It often produces a musty or fishy odour and is normally treated with an antibiotic called Metronidazole. This is not a sexually transmitted infection, but can occur spontaneously. Another infection is Trichomonal vaginitis, caused by a trichomonal infection. This produces a yellow to dark green vaginal discharge and is often itchy and may spot bleed. It is again treated with Metronidazole.
There are also sexually transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia and gonorrhoea that can cause discharge to. I would suggest asking a doctor local to you, to check this out as the green vaginal discharge can usually be cleared up quickly with antibiotics. Good luck!
