Depressed Females QuestionFor the past few months I have been feeling depressed like I mean I have thoughts of dying, always cry and hates going out. Is there anything you can do to help me? Answer: Depressed Females QuestionAbbiie, thanks for getting in touch. Im very pleased that you have contacted me concerning your feelings. It is always important to share feelings and you have done this. By sharing you have taken the first steps to getting or feeling better and I am more than happy to help you with this. Your thoughts of dying, crying and not wishing to socialise are common symptoms of depression, but I think you probably already know that. Have you been feeling this way for all this time and not shared it with anyone? Tell me, do you have a GP that you can confide in or a friend or partner to talk to? If not, you can always contact the Samaritans to talk over your feelings or even write them down and send them here if you wish. You really are not alone with this. Do you know that up to 12% of the UK population have depression symptoms! Yes 12%, so it really is very common and there are plenty of ways to help reduce or abolish symptoms. These don’t just involve medications, but include various support strategies that will help you to get better. Its just a case now of accessing that help. Let me know if I can help you further with this. My name is Dr Peter Thatcher MBBS, MRCPI and I am a consultant physician and gastroenterologist in the UK.
