Chicken pox rash
Picture of Chicken PoxMariah is 21 months she woke up with 5 little red/pink spots on her back.(Sunday) She has had 2 fever of 102. The next day she had it on her belly, arms and legs. (Monday) Today she woke up with them on her butterfly, butt, face and forehead. I took her to the doctor and he said it looks like scabies when I ask of he was sure it wasn't chicken pox. He looked at her again and said it could be because she missed her chicken pox shot. What do you think? Answer: Your Picture of Chicken PoxYour picture shows the typical chicken pox blister caused by the virus Varicella Zoster, a virus that can also cause Shingles. In infants, signs of chicken pox include fever, developing pustular rash which is intensely itchy and causes irritability and restlessness. There is no specific treatment needed for this apart from keeping her temperature down with Paracetamol elixir and applying soothing lotions such as calamine lotion. The saying, parents definitely know better applies here, I don’t think this is scabies! My name is Dr Peter Thatcher MBBS, MRCPI and I am a consultant physician and gastroenterologist in the UK.
