can 2 antibiotics be taken at same time
by Ahsan
(Hyderabad, India)
I was having pimples (very painful with swelling and pus) on my body recurring. I consulted a Dermatologist last year and he gave me an antibiotic. The dimples went away, but is the last two months it has comeback again twice on my cheeks and now at the back of my neck. This time he incised and removed the pus and blood and sent for culture (the result was a heavy growth of Staphylococcus aureus. He gave me Augmentin when he took the blood and pus for test. After the result he gave me Clindamycin - Dalacin C 300mg. I stopped the Augmentin after taking it for 4 days and started Dalacin C, though my doctor told me to take both. There are now 2 days left for me to complete the course of 7 days of Dalacin. But I feel that my nose is running and cold. Is it the side effect of Augmentin as I left it after 4 days out of 7 days? Please advise, now I am feeling better now.
I was under Depression and was taking (manorest 2.5; Venix XR 37.5; prothodien from year 2000 to 2005) but not now I am having blood pressure so, last month doctor prescribed me (Concor AM 2.5)
I used to smoke one or two cigarettes a day, but stopped 5 years ago.
Antibiotics and pimples
Glad to hear the antibiotics have worked for you. Remember it is always important to complete the antibiotic course. The worse thing you can do is mess around with the doses of the antibiotics at it could mean under treatment and also promote bacterial resistance to the medication.
The runny nose and cold are not going to be related to the antibiotics you have been taking. Sounds like you have developed the cold virus is suspect.
In answer to the title question, yes 2 antibiotics can be taken at the same time.
