azithromycin side-effects help
by Vicky
(Greece)
Hallo. I am 29 years old and a smoker. I have a sinus infection for a long time and the doctor prescribed Azithromycin 500mg. I have been taking it for 3 days. I am experiencing tinnitus since the first day of the treatment. If this a side-effect will it go away or is it more likely to be permanent? I also have a burning sensation in my lungs since the third day of the treatment. Can this also be a side-effect? Should I be expecting any side-effects after the completion of the treatment? How long does it take for the drug to get cleared out of my system? Thank you.
Side effects of AzithromycinTinnitus and the burning sensation in your lungs are not common side effects of Azithromycin. If you are experiencing these symptoms, I would suggest discussing with the doctor who prescribed the medication for you. The only way of really knowing if they are a side effect of the drug is by stopping it with your doctors consent. The tinnitus may be due to your sinus infection as there is a connection with the inner ear. The “burning in the chest” may be a symptom of a viral infection, the most common cause for sinusitis. As a rule of thumb, most side effects of drugs settle with stopping the medication unless permanent damage is caused by it (rare).
