Acute illness affecting my Devics and Picks disease
by Robin
(United States)
I am 39. My symptoms have come on suddenly, which are not normal to my everyday symptoms. An enlarged node on back of neck feels like it's putting pressure on the spot. My head feels like it is pressurized. Blurry in right eye and my neck feels like it is being squeezed. I have a great headache on top of my normal everyday one. More weakness in the legs, Very tired, I get exhausted just trying to make a lunch or supper for my husband and even to walk downstairs. I had to lie down and take a nap afterwards. Even just by doing meals one step at a time takes a lot of exertion. I have a fever ranges from 97-100.2, Chills, Night Sweats, Pressure under left rib. Pounding heart, Neck and Spine hurt. When I lay down I feel dizzy and nauseous. I am also nauseous quite a bit of the time. I am not pregnant and no chance of it. I can't sleep on my own that is why this exhaustion is not normal and the headaches, spine and neck pain, extra weakness in the legs. My eyes are sensitive to light and my ears are sensitive to noises. My history is Devics and Picks disease. A neurologist won't see me because my records have been lost. Methadone for pain, Lorazapam, Anxiety, Thyroxine for Thyroid and Seraquel for sleep, I would not sleep at all if it wasn't for something to help. No smoking or drinking. Family History includes High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Heart problems
I went to emergency room and they did blood and urine tests and scooted me quickly out the door and said to see my doctor immediately. I do have an appointment, but I am not feeling right. I do yoga for my Devics to keep my muscles working and I walk when I can. I am stronger than this so whatever has made itself cozy in my system is abnormal from my everyday life. All I know from the ER is my blood pressure was 126/84 high for me and heart rate 120 and my temp was 97.1. Sorry this is so much info. I am not expecting a miracle just a guideline. I understand you would need to see and run the proper tests, thank you in advance for your kindness.
Answer:I suspect your Devics and Picks disease has some bearing on your symptoms, particularly the nerve related problems and tiredness. The fever and enlarged lymph node may well be due to an infective process, but clearly the ER docs were happy with you both clinically and with your blood results so it would seem unlikely that there is anything too serious going on here. Maybe this is a viral infection that you have that will settle in time. Its clearly bound to have an affect on your Devics and Picks disease. If your symptoms don’t settle and your lymph node remains, you will need further investigations to find out what is wrong.
