abdominal pain advice

by sanjeev
(Kathmandu, Nepal)

Why do I have 24/7 pain in my lower left abdomen which all doctors have said is intestine when I have cut meat dairy and wheat and am eating practically nothing?
I had a Sigmoidscopy which was clear and also a CT scan which was clear too. I have had surgery to remove uterine fibroids and also a right dermoid cyst found. I have also had removed several left sided pelvic adhesions thought to be the problem.

Abdominal pain advice

Sanjeev, I sympathise with you over this. Experiencing pain, without any definite diagnosis is clearly an issue for many. On the flip side of this, it rarely is due to anything seriously missed. Even if you were given a diagnosis, it is likely that you can only be treated with reassurance and pain relief. You mention adhesions which are a common cause of pain and may well be the issue. The problem with them is they can only be treated with surgery, but this can often make the situation worse! Usually, you are better off with pain relief instead. The fact that diet has made no difference means you should reintroduce the foods that you have cut out. I would suggest discussing this with your doctor too as they have primary responsibility for you. I appreciate that you are likely disappointed with this situation. You might find taking pain modifying drugs such as Amitriptyline and the GABA analogue such as Gabapentin or Pregabalin may help with your symptoms if nothing else can be done for you. Also, as a side point, sometimes unexplained abdominal pain is caused by non-abdominal problems such as back problems so this is also worth discussing with your doctor, particularly if you suffer from back pain. I hope this helps and good luck to you in getting this sorted out!
