About Tegaserod in IBS. Drug information for Irritable Bowel Syndrome sufferers.

Other Names: Zelnorm
Indications: Short term treatment of women with IBS-C who have failed conventional treatment. WITHDRAWN from women and patients under 65 years of age as possible increase risk of increased cardiovascular events (heart attacks and strokes).
Caution: Withdrawn due to potential cardiovascular events.
Side effects: headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea (diarrhea), ischaemic colitis, cardiovascular events as outlined.
Adult Dose: 6mg tablet twice a day for 4 to 6 weeks.
Zelnorm in Irritable Bowel Syndrome has been used, but withdrawn on saftey grounds at present.
