, Constipation, Chronic diarrhoea associated with diverticular disease.
Other drug names: Normacol for IBS, Normacol Plus.
Cautions: In people with decreased bowel motility or intestinal narrowing, adequate
fluid intake needs to be maintained to prevent intestinal obstruction.
Contra-indications: Difficulty in swallowing, intestinal obstruction, Impacted stool, Colonic
atony.
Side effects: Flatulance, abdominal distension, hypersensitivity to drug, bowel obstruction
Dose: one to two 5ml spoonfuls, washed down with plenty of water, once or twice a
day.
