Loperamide for IBS , Chronic diarrhoea, Acute diarrhoea to aid rehydration
Other drug names: Imodium
Cautions: May cause drowsiness - avoid driving or operating machinery in this situation. May cause abdominal distention.
Contrainndications: Acute diarrhoea conditions such as acute inflammatory colitis or antibiotic associated colitis.
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting, constipation, drowsiness, low blood pressure
Adult Dose: 4mg initially, followed by 2mg after each loose stool (max. 16mg a day)
