About Ispaghula Husk in IBS

About Fybogel for IBS. Also known as Ispaghula husk treatment, we look at how Ispaghula husk in IBS is beneficial.

Uses Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, Chronic diarrhoea associated with diverticular disease.

Other Drug names: Ispaghula Husk, Konsyl, Isogel, Regulan.

Cautions: In people with decreased bowel motility or intestinal narrowing, adequate fluid intake needs to be maintained to prevent intestinal obstruction. Contra-indications: Difficulty in swallowing, intestinal obstruction, Impacted stool, Colonic atony.

Side effects: Flatulance, abdominal distension, hypersensitivity to drug, bowel obstruction

Dose: Depends on prep. Ispaghula husk dose is usually 1 sachet in water twice a day.

Ispaghula Husk in IBS can be helpful to the sufferer, particularly in IBS-C. Ispaghula husk treatment is thought of as natural as it provides the fiber that will help to keep your bowels regulated.
