Uses Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, Chronic diarrhoea associated with diverticular disease.Other Drug names: Ispaghula Husk, Konsyl, Isogel, Regulan. Cautions: In people with decreased bowel motility or intestinal narrowing, adequate fluid intake needs to be maintained to prevent intestinal obstruction.
Contra-indications: Difficulty in swallowing, intestinal obstruction, Impacted stool, Colonic atony. Side effects: Flatulance, abdominal distension, hypersensitivity to drug, bowel obstruction Dose: Depends on prep. Ispaghula husk dose is usually 1 sachet in water twice a day. Ispaghula Husk in IBS
