3 hours of delirium
by Hallie
(Reston, VA, USA)
I had about an hour of delirium this afternoon after being flushed, feeling feverish, and having nausea and a headache. When I got home (after the delirium had passed, but not the rest of the symptoms) I was not running a fever.
I have a history of fainting; I have depression and panic disorder as well as generalized anxiety disorder.
I also have relatively low blood sugar, but I ate plenty of sugary foods this morning so I don't think it was related to that.
I'm on Lexapro, abilify, and a beta blocker. I forgot to take them this morning, but that is a semi regular occurrence so I don't think it was related to that either.
No drugs, alcohol, or smoking.
No family history.
I went home, drank a few sips of water, and laid down for a while and now feel fine.
Infective Symptoms
This sounds as though you had infective symptoms with the fever, headache, flushing and nausea. You mention though that you didn’t have a temperature which is a little odd, but maybe this was only when you measured it!
Malaria can sometimes present in this way, but you don’t mention any foreign travels. A transient bacteraemia could also account for this as could a viral illness. Often people experience infection symptoms, but never find out why and they just settle down.
I think the important thing is your symptoms have settled so at this stage there nothing to worry about, but if symptoms recur then it might be worth exploring further.
