18 With Anxiety
by Keirra
(Chattanooga, TN United States)
I'm an 18 year old that's dealing with anxiety. A week or two ago I just started feeling sick at the stomach: nauseated, vomiting, diarrhea, and lost of appetite. The same day I started feeling like that I went to the E.R. They checked my blood work and there was nothing wrong, but dehydration. So they gave me fluids and prescribed me something for the nausea and vomiting and said the diarrhea would go away because it was possible I had a stomach bug. So a day or two later I went back because I started to feel worse. Once again they did my blood work and there was nothing wrong, and again I was prescribed something for nausea and vomiting. A day later I went back because that time I felted as if I could not breathe, and that's when they told me I was having an anxiety attack. It was pretty shocking to me when they told me what was going on. My mother and two aunts had dealt with anxiety before, but it never crossed my mind that I'll deal with it as young as I am. They prescribed me something to calm it down, but I didn't and still don't want to be on medication. I feel like I'll be crazy when I'm really not at all. I've started to eat real meals just a little bit. And I thought if I started to eat real meals again my digestive system would get back right. But honestly, it has not. I've started to notice mucus and streaks of blood in my stools and it's really starting to bother me a lot, because I've been researching all the possible things that could be wrong and what it could be. And the things I've came across has frighten me really and I'm starting to worry.
Blood In StoolsInteresting history. The blood in stools does need investigating further, but in someone of your age it is very unlikely to be anything serious. If you have been having diarrhea its possible you could have an inflamed bowel or colitis and this can be easily checked for. Bleeding is common and rarely is it due to cancer in someone of your age unless there is a family history of young cancer. As for the anxiety, certainly your symptoms could be due to this or at least, made worse by this.
